Pudong New Area in Shanghai is pledged to further improve its ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship and push ahead with major scientific and technological infrastructure and R&D centers this year, local media reported on Feb 28.
Build an open, coordinated platform
In July 2018, an industrial innovation center focusing on technology transfer was established in Pudong, aiming to advance the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the special district.
By the end of 2018, the newly-built center has invested in five projects in integrated circuits, biological medicine and artificial intelligence (AI).
"As the application of scientific and technological achievements forms an important part of industrial innovation, the center is set up to build an open and coordinated platform," said Tang Shiqing, director of the Pudong Commission of Technology and Economy.
This year, the center will ramp up efforts to spot quality projects in regional leading industries and foster new high-tech enterprises.

Optimize ecosystem for innovation, entrepreneurship
Local authority believes that innovation ecology is a comprehensive embodiment of different elements including innovative talents, innovative technologies, innovative capitals and innovative services.
This year, Pudong will speed up the introduction of high-caliber foreign-invested incubators and advance accelerator programs of hi-tech companies who focus on specific industries and are able to provide market promotion, capital financing, and professional technical services.
Additionally, the annual Pudong New Area Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the Shanghai FTZ Overseas Talents Innovation Conference will continue to lure high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship projects from home and abroad to Pudong.
Meanwhile, the district will also explore and analyze the growth model of key startup companies, high-tech enterprises, and R&D institutions of science and technology enterprises, so as to cultivate and accelerate a group of innovation-driven enterprises.
